For most kids, math is like a beast that they have to face every day. If given a choice, many kids would do anything else in the world then study math. But why is that? Why math for kids is such a burden, but at the same time, some kids are brilliant in it? Well, the answer to this question is very simple. Math is a very straight forward subject. You are either right or wrong in it. There is no middle path. You also need a lot of confidence in yourself to Hence, if a kid is right a few times in math, then he develops his confidence and is able to pick up the subject much faster. On the other hand, if a child is wrong a few times in solving the problems, then he loses his confidence and starts to think that he cannot do it.

Another important thing about math is that in order to move ahead, it requires a student to know everything he has studied in the past. And the kids, who have for any reason have not yet properly grasped the previous work, suffer in the future. For example, if a child doesn’t know addition properly, then he will have trouble in double multiplication.

But this problem is easily avoidable. Math for kids is such a burden only because they feel very lonely while doing it. Especially, small kids don’t like math because it is not as entertaining as other subjects. So, why not make math entertaining for kids. Doesn’t matter if you are a parent or teacher, you must try to make kids have fun with the subject.

The best way to get and hold a child’s attention is by playing games with them. There are many math games available in market. These games come in various formats and types and can be played at home or in a classroom. They are ideal for teaching math for kids. Going by your requirements, you can choose a puzzle, worksheet, printed flash cards, board games etc. These games are not only helpful in sharpening the math skills for kids, but they are also perfect to practice and strengthen math skills learned in previous classes.

If you have a computer at home, then you can also make your kids play math games on the internet or through a CD-ROM. These games are best for kids who love to spend time on the computer. You will find thousands of websites on the internet which are designed to teach math for kids.

Apart from the games and websites, you must also help your child personally. Most parents do the biggest by thinking that their duty towards their kids’ studies ends at helping them in homework. But the truth is that their responsibility has just started. Parents must keep educating their child through various games around the house. For example, teach your kids to count while playing “Catch the Ball” with him or addition with eatables like toffees and fruits.

The moral of the story is that, if your child is not good in math, then confining him to his math textbook and making him study the subject in the same way will not be of any use. Make it fun and entertaining.
