I have children who struggle daily with math. As a parent, helping them is a difficult stressful job. What we leant in our day, is quite different to what our children are being taught today at school. I was also never very good at math when I was a young child so I find it extremely stressful trying to help them.
I was at my wits end, until I came across fun kids math games on the internet. This was so much fun. The kids love the fact that they are getting to spend time on a one to one basis with a parent; and at the same time, they are actually learning the concept or method without even realizing it.
My family look so forward to pulling out the math board games at the end of the day that we have even reached a stage where it is becoming competitive -Who is going to walk away the winner for the day!.
My children have a renewed sense of worth as they are grasping the concepts and being able to apply it to their school life. This renewed sense of self has actually made a huge difference in their marks that they are bringing home.
The great part of playing these board games is that the children are working at their own pace so until they get the idea straight in their mind, it is purely a matter of practicing the different method, over and over until the penny drops.
I have enjoyed these interactive afternoons so much with my children and to see them achieving better marks has taken a lot of stress off me and brought a smile to my face.
The teachers at school are so amazed when I tell them how the children have managed to get their marks to grow that the school body is now even investigating the prospect of buying games off the internet to keep in their library.
There are so many kids who just battle with math and cannot keep up with their class. If they do not understand what is being taught to them, they just get left behind and once they miss that fundamental part of the teachings, they cannot move onto the next step. I know because this is what has happened with my children.
Fun kid math games really is the way to go. It is amazing how much more the children retain in their memory banks when they are having fun doing it. I can strongly recommend to all parents out there whose children are not coping with math – give it a bash – what do you have to loose!
